Lexis M, Zacharias Wines

Lexis M

Type: Dry Red Wine.
Classification: Protected Geographical Indication Peloponnese.
Grape Varieties: 100% Mavrodafni.
Description: The result of a dry vinification of the Mavrodafni variety, which is mostly associated with sweet wines and rarely with dry ones. Strongly believing in this variety’s dynamic, agriculturalist Elias Zacharias created the only Mavrodafni vineyard in Nemea, back in 1999. The vineyard spreads across 10000 square meters, in the Selkia Leontiou location, in Nemea. It is a wine of ruby-red color, with aromas of mature red fruits, herbs, vanilla, coffee, and spices. Its mouth is medium-bodied, with a dense spicy flavor and sweetly felt tannins.
(Note: According to Greek legislation, the word Mavrodafni is not allowed to be written on any wine label except those that are used for the Patras Mavrodafni sweet wine.)
Vineyards: From the Zacharias family’s own vineyards in the Selkia Leontiou location, in Nemea.
Harvest Dates: Late September.
Vinification: Prefermentary Cryoextraction for 3 days, followed by 20 days of extraction at 22-25 oC. Left to age for 12 months in French oaken barrels, then for another 6 months inside a cement tank.
Served At: 17-18 oC.
